Children's Self Esteem

Building self-confidence should start at a very early age. This is because most of the characteristics that they have when they grow up are actually acquired while they're still young. Parents therefore have huge responsibility in the formation of children's self esteem.

The problem is that not all moms and dads are very much aware of such duties. Thus, they end up with children who don't know about responsibilities, love, and respect. They are usually dependent on other people to feel secured. If they lose such attachment, they are left hopeless, abandoned, and alone.

Tips to Develop Self Confidence of Children

Here are some of the ways on how you can improve the self-esteem of your young ones:

1. Always let them know that they are loved and wanted. Normally, those children with insecurities are the ones who are always judged, insulted, and ridiculed by their own families, such as their parents. If you don't like your kids to turn out shy or abused by many, always make them feel that they are well-loved. Always let them know that they are accepted for who they are.

2. Make them accountable for their own actions. Responsibility should be taught early. You can do that by allowing your kids to perform some duties, perhaps helping you in taking care of the household. You can also give them time to answer their own assignment or perhaps quiz. Most of all, when they do something wrong, allow them to admit their own mistakes, but rather than focusing on their errors, help them come up with the most ideal solution. During summer, perhaps you can permit them to look for small-time jobs, where they can earn money while at the same time improve their skills and even their resume.

3. Allow them to mingle with other children. It doesn't matter if your child is home-schooled or not. There are a lot of ways to allow them to meet other kids, who may also be sharing the same passion as your little ones. For instance, if your son loves to play baseball, you can let him join little leagues in your community. You can also let them participate in summer camps, where they can explore the wilderness and their personalities together with other kids all over the country.

4. Let them explore their own talents and personalities. Each child is unique, and as a parent, it's significant that you can permit them to bloom on their own. One of the best ways is to let them explore their talents or even their personalities. If your little girl loves to dance, then you can probably enroll her in ballet or jazz school. On the other hand, if your son loves to paint, there are art schools where he can spend his weekends or after-school days on. You can also buy some educational videos or let them watch TV programs that will enhance their creativity.

5. Look for self-hypnosis books. Unknown to many, self hypnosis is not actually bad. It's tapping your subconscious, changing your negative thoughts to positive ones. This is so safe that even your kids can undergo it. If you don't feel comfortable working with a hypnosis expert, you can just buy a self hypnosis instructional material.
